Opening Independence Day!
(Midtown, NYC) July, 4 2008: Chicago City Limits hits the campaign trail this summer with its latest improvisational comedy revue, ONE STATE, TWO STATE, RED STATE, BLUE STATE. The show combines the very best in sketch comedy with audience-inspired improvisations. In its nightly feature, “News on the March,” the CCL cast takes the audience on a whirlwind tour of the faces, places and events of the 2008 election, making a few pit stops off the beaten campaign trail as well.
There are plenty of major stories as the campaign unfolds: Obama and McCain are squaring off as their campaigns move into high gear. Short lists of potential VPs are growing longer. The candidates are refining their exit strategies from Iraq while the American public is more concerned about the price of gas. Hillary has bowed out…but will she return? Meanwhile, in the midst of it all, the Midwest is flooding, the Mideast is fuming and the Midriffs in Japan are beginning to rival those of Middle America.
There’s lots of audience participation in ONE STATE: live debates between the candidates with audiences providing the questions; custom-made Broadway Musicals based on an audience member’s recent experience; an improvised version of the game show Jeopardy; staged reenactments of great plays that were never written; and a whole lot of family-friendly fun.
The Chicago City Limits cast includes Annie Schiffmann, Joe de Gise II, Stefan Schick, and Rob Schiffmann and features Musical Director Rick Hip Flores on keyboards. Directed by Joe de Gise II and Paul Zuckerman.
